When I first met Megan and Tyler at their engagement session, we immediately hit it off. They are the sweetest, most fun-loving, silly, and sentimental humans, and I knew right then that their wedding was going to be special. Hosted at the historic Common House wedding venue in downtown Chattanooga, their day was elegant, sophisticated, and simple in a way that made you feel as if you were transported inside a vintage romance novel.
The Venue & Getting Ready
The Common House is a newly renovated, modern social club that was originally used as a YMCA back in the mid-1900s. Full of history, charm, and Tuscan-inspired design, it made the perfect space for Megan and Tyler’s big day. They each had their own getting-ready room where they prepped with excitement and laughter, surrounded by friends and loved ones.

Bridal Party Portraits & First Touch
After everyone was wedding day ready, we did a sweet father-daughter first look and took a few portraits with the bridal party. Instead of a bride and groom first look, Megan and Tyler opted for a first touch and intimate vow reading before the ceremony. It was very intentional, heartfelt and such a privilege to witness. As many weddings as I photograph, it truly never gets old hearing the kind, loving words and promises that two people make to each other.
Elegant Outdoor Ceremony
The elegant ceremony took place in the courtyard with string lights, greenery and simple decor. Because they read their vows in private, it was short and sweet which was much appreciated considering the heat and humidity of a Tennessee July! We captured portraits with family, the bridal party and the couple before transitioning inside for the rest of the night.
Dinner & Reception
The reception space had a very vintage-meets-modern vibe with intentionally minimal decor. My favorite feature was the twinkle lights that lined the ceiling and created a romantic ambiance. Dinner was served family style on long tables with candles and greenery and everyone was just happy to be there. Megan’s dad gave a creative and heartfelt rhyming speech that really set the tone for the night.
Dancing & Grand Exit
After dinner and the cutting of the cake, the couple and their guests made their way to the dance floor where the real party started. Even mom and grandma made their way into the circle to bust a few moves. They ended their night with a private last dance to the song, “”I Wanna Grow Old With You” by Adam Sandler and sung every word to each other, completely present in the moment. Finally, they made their grand exit with glitter streamers that tangled all around them as they walked through. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day!
