When a couple as cool as Sean and Tania host a boho backyard wedding, you know it’s going to be a day to remember. The casual vibe and bohemian details reflected their fun and free-spirited personalities to a tee. Despite the pouring rain (yes, you read that right!) these two had a smile on their face all day long. They were such a breath of fresh air, as were everyone in attendance that day; just stoked to be there celebrating Sean and Tania’s love.
The Venue
The private residence was absolutely stunning and featured a large backyard that extends into a forest, a private pond, and 3 covered balconies- one on each level. It was the perfect setting for a backyard wedding. I loved the rustic stairs and stone finishes throughout the property. Combined with the overcast skies, it felt like we were somewhere in the European countryside rather than Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The Ceremony
Due to the rain, they decided to postpone the ceremony. Everyone gathered inside to mingle and wait out the storm and once it slightly let up, the guests ran to their seats. Of course, the minute they sat down it started to downpour. Despite having umbrellas, everyone was soaking wet by the end of it but no one seemed to care.
Instead of a traditional flower girl who tosses petals on the ground, they had a “flower man” who passed out beers and individual flower stems to guests sitting by the aisle (sporting a flower crown and all!) It was hilariously unique, and another testament to the fun and light-heartedness of the day.
A family friend officiated the ceremony and Sean and Tania read their personal vows to each other in the rain. Romantic, right? Everyone cheered and celebrated as the couple was officially pronounced husband and wife. They threw flowers petals (which immediately stuck to them!) as they made their way up the aisle as newlyweds.
The Reception
Following the ceremony was a very casual reception inside the home. There was an array of finger foods and appetizers that guests could self-serve and everyone sheltered from the rain. Once people had a chance to eat, we made our way down to the bottom deck for speeches, drinks, and dancing. After many wonderful tributes to the couple, it was evidently clear that Sean and Tania are loved by many. I may have shed a tear or two myself!
Nobody let the rain stop them from having a good time that night as they danced on the deck. Sean and Tania shared their first dance right then and there, barefoot and happy like something out of a movie. They laughed and celebrated with good people and good vibes all around.
If there’s one thing that you can learn from Sean and Tania’s day, it’s to not take life so seriously. These two turned a less-than-ideal situation into something iconic, memorable, and fun. Plus as they say, a little rain on your wedding day is good luck- and these two got a downpour.
Hi Sarah, I really love this Boho wedding in the forest. You captured really beautiful moments of her wedding day. All the best, Christian
