As a destination wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of working at many different engagement photo locations. Choosing a photoshoot location can sometimes be overwhelming seem due to the limitless options. The best questions to ask yourself to help choose your engagement photoshoot location:
1. Is there a location that’s special to you and your partner?
Creating your engagement photos at a location that feels comfortable to you will automatically help you relax in front of the camera. Is there a special winery that you always love to go for date nights? We can go for a sunset stroll and enjoy the scenery. Or maybe art museums are your thing, so we create some unique engagement photos there. Or possibly you two have another activity that you love to do together and you want to incorporate? Going to the beach, picking flowers, or exploring a new city… the possibilities are actually endless, so there’s no wrong answers.
2. Do you have any bucketlist locations?
Using your engagement photos as an excuse to travel to a new destination is something I’ll always support. Life is short and there’s a lot to experience, so why not use this opportunity for you to see a place that you’ve never been before. Whether I am always ready to travel and explore a new place!

3. Is there a specific vision that you’re going for?
Your engagement photo location affects the overall feel to your images! For example, if you’re envisioning a soft and romantic engagement session, a chic and dramatic city location may not be the best fit. By starting with how you’d like your engagement photos to feel, we can then decide which locations will align with that.
4. What season will it be?
Since many engagement photo sessions are created outdoors, it’s best to consider the weather! Weather will affect your outfits, access to different nature points, comfort, and more. For example, If you’re wanting to do a beach swim session, but it’s winter & cold where you live, we may run into some issues. Are fall colors important to you, or do you love the snow, or the warm summer ocean breeze?
When in doubt… ask your photographer!
